Hey Survivors! 

Welcome back to the Grind House! Today we’re going to take a closer look at another one of the new episodes coming in Season 2. Before we get started it’s worth mentioning that while each Episode comes with its own twists and themes, all Room cards, Personas, Items, and new components are backward compatible with the core game, and the stretch goal 8-player expansion.

Kids Game 

Overview:

Welcome to the playground, where you will face your greatest fear of all; getting picked last for dodgeball. In the Kid’s Game expansion, players will need to volunteer to participate in a number of familiar games with deadly twists in order to survive. To make matters worse, this time the Grind House has been turned into a spectator sport, with The Host awarding extra points to certain players who they believe to be the cream of the crop. Will you support those players, or do everything you can to take them down so you can earn the title of Prince (or Princess) of the playground?

But what's it about?

This Episode introduces Survivors to The Kid, a living doll who has taken you to his playground of doom. It’s here that he will make you play twisted versions of hopscotch, and jump rope, there's even a jungle gym.  But be careful not to get too excited! The Host is watching from the wings and has even brought a group of spectators to set wagers on who they believe to be the best contender to win the game.

At the end of each room, The Host will award an Odds marker to the healthiest Survivor, worth a hefty amount of points at the end of the game. For each room that they remain on top, their Odds token increases, and the only way for them to lose it is for another Survivor to become the new top contender. Luckily for you, each room in this expansion emphasizes singling out either a single or multiple volunteers, so you will have plenty of opportunities to thrust the current golden child into the limelight and see if they crumble.

This expansion takes dirty tricks to the next level, as players are encouraged to single out their greatest threats and make sure they fall. As a bonus (or a drawback), this expansion introduces a number of new personas all built around the notion of volunteering. For example, will you decide to play as the Grandfather, who gets a -1 to all their rolls, but cannot be forced to volunteer for anything?

Abduction!

Overview

Blast off in an intergalactic tour of terror as you try to survive experiments from the mysterious Zetas. To make matters worse, at least one player has been incubated with an alien infant that will drive them to convert their fellow survivors into cosmic creeps. You must work as a team to make it back to Earth. The only question is, will you all be returning as humans, or something else?

But what's it about?

The Abduction expansion leaves this universe in favor of more cosmic horrors as Survivors band together to survive an experience on a hostile spacecraft. While trusting other players is something of a challenge already in Grind House, paranoia will be cranked up to 11 as one player starts off incubated with an alien embryo inside of their head. 

If they suffer so much as a single head wound they die, losing their persona and being reborn as a zeta, complete with a brand new monstrous head tile.

Zeta’s gain a unique end-of-room ability to try and infect other Survivors. Combined with some highly thematic rooms, the end of the game will often end in a showdown between human Survivors and the deadly Zetas.

Once the space ride is over, make sure to keep a lookout for any alien life forms stowed away. With the inclusion of a number of Zeta-based personas, and a bunch of new cursed Alien Egg item cards to shuffle into the deck, your future games are sure to be out of this world!
